The award was granted to design of a sustainable tourism development project in a rural context with rich historical, cultural and natural capitals facing an stagnation in local community’s economy.

The judges were impressed by the care and attention brought to a relatively modest project but one where environmental design principles can be deployed and tested. “If this can happen in the context of a rural development, it should be possible in more complex urban building types”
